Will Zhuāngzǐ's butterfly fly in a dream?

If I hadn't met you,

would I know the sadness of the autumn leaves falling deeply in my soul?

How can this be such a mystery!

The joy of knowing the truth of that accidental encounter,

'Because there is this, there is that'!

묘(妙)한 인연을 만났네

꽃의 뿌리가 땅을 만나지 않았다면

어찌 그리도 고혹적인 붉은 꽃빛을 쏟아낼 것인가

밤의 잠이 꿈을 만나지 않았다면

장자(莊周)의 나비가 꿈 속을 날 것인가

내 그대를 만나지 않았다면

영혼의 떨림지울 가을 낙엽의 슬픔을 알기나 할까

어찌 이런 묘(妙)함일런지!

‘이것이 있음에 저것이 있다’는

그 인연의 법을 중히 아는 즐거움이여!

세상의 모든 것들의 만남이 묘(妙)한 인연이라니!
