Life is a ‘crossover’.

My ink painting art is also ‘crossing over’. Coming from the distant past, I stay in this moment of the present and cross over to the future again. Now here, in my breath, my whole being dwells. The present moment is my existence staying in the present. It only exists here in our lives. To the poet, it exists as the solitary language of poetry, and to the musician, it exists as the mysterious trembling of the strings. I exist as a line and a dot with eternity in my paintings. I am present in a never-ending journey along the dot-to-dot road, repeating crossing from moment to moment.

There are things that have not been shown in concrete form because they remain only in my imagination. My existence dwells in the present moment, but desperately desires a deeper and expanded spiritual dimension. Revealing them in sharp black ink on my white paper! This is the ultimate goal of my art work.

The subtle world of black embraces everything in this world and implies a deeper and invisible world as an abstraction and metaphor for all beings. The beauty of Zen Art towards eternity gives birth to a new life. My existence dwells in that deep solitude in Zen (禪) Art wrapped in the scent of black ink.

삶은 ‘건너감’이다.

나의 묵화(墨畫) 예술 또한 ‘건너가기’이다. 먼 과거로부터 온 나는 현재의 이 순간에 머물다가 또 다시 미래의 저곳으로 건너가고 있다. 지금 여기, 나의 호흡 속에 나의 온 존재가 머문다. 현재의 순간은 나의 존재가 현재에 머무는 것이다. 단지 우리의 삶에겐 여기만 존재할 뿐이다. 시인에겐 시의 고독한 언어로 존재하고 음악가에겐 현의 신비한 떨림으로 존재한다. 난 내 그림 속의 영원성을 지닌 하나의 선과 점으로 존재한다. 난 점과 점으로 이어진 길을 따라 끊임없는 여정 속에 현존하며 이 순간에서 저 순간으로 건너가기를 반복한다.

내 상상 속에만 머물기에 구체적인 형태로 보여지지 않았던 것들이 있다. 지금의 순간에 머물지만 더 심오하고 확대된 차원을 욕망하며 나의 하얀 종이 위에 그것들을 선명하게 검은 잉크로 드러내는 것, 이것이 내 예술작업의 궁극점이다.

묵빛의 현묘(玄妙)한 세계는 이 세계의 모든 것을 품으며 또한 온 존재를 추상(抽象)과 은유(隱喩)로써 더 깊고 보이지 않는 세계를 함축한다. 영원성을 향한 선의 예술의 아름다움은 새로운 삶을 태어나게 한다. 선(禪) 예술에 그윽한 묵향으로 휘감긴 홀로인 존재가 그 깊은 고독 속에 머문다.
